Hong Drone II timelapse

Hong Drone II arises from an aerial observation of Hong Kong.

It is the transitional part of Hong Drone series, a travel who goes from abstraction to figuration. So this piece can be chosen as the most balanced piece of this series.

To make this series, I have chosen a saturated and contaminated city like Hong Kong. It is one of those places that have become anodyne and overcrowded over the years, places built almost exclusively with steel, glass, concrete and asphalt, and that are covered with that gray patina caused by pollution that at the same time unifies everything.

What I do is like a make-up job, where I clean all that ugly grey coverage and I embellish every single building with bold colors.

Color is used here as a symbol of beauty and diversity, in opposition to the functionality and consistency of today’s big cities.

Hong Drone II was exhibited in Artexpo New York 2018.

The Hong Drone II timelapse condenses more than 45 hours of art work in one minute.
The dimensions of the canvas are 35 x 35 in (90 x 90 cm) and it was painted from April 3rd to 19th, 2017.

Artexpo New York is one of the main cultural events of the Big Apple and one of the largest art fairs in the world. Its first edition was held in 1978. Artexpo NY is an exceptional platform for professional and emerging artists, and has served as a consolidation for such important names as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Robert Rauschenberg or Leroy Neiman.
Every year it is visited by more than 40,000 people, among whom are the main professionals of the art world, gallery owners, art dealers, interior designers or architects,
who are looking for art and artists to shape the new world artistic trends. The fair welcomes about 1,000 artists spread over more than 400 booths.
