Mae West Room

October 5, 2018
Dalí Theater-Museum, Figueres, Spain

Salvador Dalí created this work over a newspaper photo featuring the actress Mae West, an icon of the 1920s.

For Salvador Dalí, the actress represented a model of disturbing female beauty.

Through the paranoiac-critical method, Salvador Dalí creates a realistic scenario using the facial features of the actress as furniture and ornamental motifs.

In 1974 the project was carried out, with the collaboration of the architect Oscar Tusquets.

He used images to represent the eyes, a chimney that symbolizes the nose, the iconographic sofa-lips and blond hair that look like the curtains of this apartment.

The room can be found in the Dalí Theater-Museum of Figueres.
