Moonlight is an American drama film released in 2016, directed and written by Barry Jenkins.

It is based on the semi-autobiographical play “In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue”, written by Tarell Alvin McCraney.

The main cast is composed of Trevante Rodas, Andre Holland, Janelle Monáe, Naomie Harris and Mahersala Ali.

Divided into three segments, it narrates the childhood, adolescence and maturity of Chiron, an African-American boy, fatherless, who grows up in a depressed and troubled suburb of Miami.

The film shows the difficulties that Chiron has to relate to the people around him, and how he faces his affective development and his homosexuality.
